BBC News has released some spectacular footage capturing the entire raising of the Costa Concordia ocean cruise liner from the waters off the Italian island of Giglio, in super-fast time lapse motion.
Now that the vessel has been righted, it will be scoured by investigators for further evidence against the ship’s captain Francesco Schettino, who is awaiting trial on 32 counts of manslaughter and abandoning ship. Authorities also hope to recover the two bodies who were never found, as well as any valuables contained in stateroom safes that may be able to be returned to passengers or their families.
