Mateship is a strong
bond and one which
Avalon Waterways is
very proud to support.
The river cruise line
works closely with
Cruise For Mates, an
initiative created by
Brisbane owner and
director of Harvey World
Travel Garden City,
Hilary Weir.
Cruise for Mates has
so far organised and
chartered two Avalon
vessels to operate
special fundraising
cruises on European
waterways for worthy causes.
Local and international management of
Avalon Waterways last week joined with Hilary
to toast her success following another Cruise
for Mates cruise operation featuring celebrity
TV chef Manu Feildel.
The voyage along the Seine and Rhone rivers
featured Feildel and a number of other well
known chefs all doing their bit to try and raise
money to help fellow chef Matt Golinski, who
tragically lost his family in a house fire in Dec
2011 and suffered horrible burns himself, as well as a number of his favourite charities.
An upcoming Cruise for Mates departure
is aimed at World Series cricket enthusiasts,
with Aussie cricket legends Rod Marsh, Greg
Chappell, Bruce Laird, Dennis Lillee and Jeff
Thompson all taking part in a special voyage
where passengers can meet and interact with
some of their cricketing heroes.
The package includes airfares with Emirates
along with a 15-day voyage from Amsterdam
to Budapest on Avalon’s newest ship, the
MS Illumination, departing Brisbane, Sydney,
Melbourne & Perth on 31 Jul next year, with
cabins priced from $9,390pp twin share.
