Cruise Weekly reporter Guy Dundas was on location in Amsterdam for the christening ceremony of Emerald Waterways’ new ship, the Emerald Sky.
Docked at Ruijterkade Oost in Amsterdam, the new Emerald Sky makes an impressive sight, festively bedecked in greenery for the ceremony.
The crew is arrayed along the top deck of the 182-passenger ship for the ceremony, looking very pleased and impressed with their new workplace.
The celebrations are kicked off by a four piece band who serenade us as we appreciate this beautiful ship (not that we’re blowing the horn for Emerald Waterways!)
British celebrity, actress and singer Twiggy did the honours of christening the ship.
The crowd certainly seems to be enjoying their music. Scenic Tours founder Glen Moroney is definitely getting into the groove.
Glen Moroney spoke well about what the Emerald Sky means for the company and what superb features they are able to offer their passengers.
After the ceremony was over we were treated to a taste of what cuisine the Emerald Sky has to offer. There was a magnificent spread of finger food in the Horizon Bar & Lounge on board.
And of course, no official christening ceremony would be complete without cake! With their pioneering innovations, Emerald Waterways looks set to demonstrate to the rest of the industry that you really can have your cake and eat it too!
