Bragging rights for ownership of the world’s largest cruise ship will move further out of reach for the rest of the industry after Royal Caribbean launches its third Oasis-class vessel in Apr next year.
The cruising giant this week said Harmony of the Seas would be the name given to the project known formerly as Oasis 3 (CW breaking news).
From its 15th and highest deck down, early renderings of Harmony indicate it will take enormity to new levels.
Royal Caribbean said a number of ‘firsts’ for the line will feature on Harmony of the Seas, such as three waterslides sending riders twisting & turning down three decks to the pool.
Currently at about halfway in the construction process at French shipyard STX in St Nazaire, France, the vessel will float out in coming months and debut into revenue service in Apr 2016.
At 227,700GRT, Harmony will be slightly larger than its sister Oasis-class vessels Allure of the Seas and Oasis of the Seas.
It will offer maximum capacity of 6,360 pax.
Details on exactly which part of the world it will first ply its trade, other unique onboard features and who will act in the role of Godmother are yet to be advised.
Earlier this month, the keel was laid on a fourth Oasis-class vessel, currently un-named at present and which is due to enter service in 2018 (CW 05 Feb).
