For a Royal sailing experience, cruise the Thames on board Magna Carta on the Classic England Cruise. This itinerary takes cruisers on a once in a lifetime journey to some of the Monarch’s most historically significant sites such as Hampton Court Palace, Dorney Court and Her Majesty’s Royal Residence Windsor Castle. Cruisers will be charmed by the idyllic scenery and gardens, and immersed in some of the country’s most fascinating history including that of Henry VIII and the Tudor period. This 6-night cruise departing on April 3 is reduced from AU$5,730 (€3,590) to AU$5,150 (€3,230) per person.
Says Derek Banks, Managing Director of European Waterways, “With Her Majesty’s recent celebrations what better way to embrace English history than to cruise the Royal River Thames during the Spring. Starting with a quintessential English Cream Tea the cruise will take guests on a true British journey.”
On the historic Canal du Midi in southwest France, a 6-night cruise aboard ‘Anjodi’ departing on April 3 or 10 is reduced from AU$5,860 (€3,690 ) to AU$5,270 (€3,320) per person. And for a family or friends group of 8 who would like to charter this delightful vessel – which comes with a crew of 4 including a gourmet chef – the price is down from AU$43,640 (€27,500) to AU$39,230 (€24,750), representing even more of a saving per person.
A Canal du Midi cruise on a hotel barge such as ‘Anjodi’ gives people the chance to visit historic attractions, such as Carcassonne, the most complete example of a fortified medieval city in existence today. Other fascinating places visited in this fabled land of the Cathars include Narbonne with its Roman origins and wonderful indoor food market, while wine tastings of Minervois and Corbières wines at renowned domaines are also included. The sun-drenched region’s other attractions that will appeal to families include the nature reserve of Bagnas, known for its flocks of flamingos, and the beaches of Cap d’Agde on the Mediterranean, a short bike ride from the canal.
“The Midi region in Southwest France offers so much throughout the year and is a perfect destination in the Spring when the Mediterranean climate is pleasantly warm. And with multi-generational and family charters a growing market, our cruises in both the Midi and other regions of France, such as Burgundy and Alsace, offer diverse itineraries to satisfy the interests of everyone in a group of friends or family, young or old” says Banks.
