Between July 17 and September 24 2016, hotel barge Clair de Lune will cruise a new route on the 330-year-old Canal du Midi. From Trebes to Naurouze, the gentle voyage will take passengers through delightful countryside past canal-side villages and under the pretty, arched bridges that make this waterway so special. Along the way, there will be tours to some of the most interesting places the region has to offer.
To launch the new route, European Waterways are offering €3,000 (AU$4,660) off the charter price for all July & August 2016 departures. All bookings made by Feb 15 2016.
Clair de Lune accommodates just 6-passengers in real comfort, doted on by a crew of 4, including a gourmet chef. There is a sun deck, spa pool, WiFi, and 6 touring bikes for exploring the ever-present towpath.
The itinerary will include:
• Cruising across the Fresquel aqueduct
• Private tasting of sparkling wine in Limoux
• Tour of the old Cathar town of Castelnaudary, home of the classic French dish, cassoulet
• Tour of the medieval fortified city of Carcassonne
