The Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB) welcomes news today by the Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA) revealing the number of Australians taking an ocean cruise in Asia has more than doubled in the last two years.
The increase, which puts Asia almost on par with cruise passengers to Europe, is positive news for Hong Kong as Australian visitor numbers continue to bounce back in the region, up more than 2% for January to April 2016.
Hong Kong Tourism Board Regional Director Australia, Andrew Clark said ‘A 71% increase in cruise passengers to Asia is significant and extremely positive for the industry and Hong Kong. These numbers further verify the visitor arrivals growth we’re seeing from Australia not just through the popularity in cruising but also through increased air capacity.’
‘The cruise segment is a huge opportunity for Hong Kong and we will continue to maintain a focus on bolstering this market through our trade and marketing channels.’
