2017 brochure features luxury hotel barge holidays on the inland waterways of Europe
September sees the launch of European Waterways’ new 2017 brochure, featuring a wide choice of exclusive hotel barge cruises on the canals, rivers and lakes of mainland Europe and the British Isles – France, Italy, Scotland, Ireland, England, Germany, Belgium, Holland and Luxembourg.
2017 will see more cruises being operated in the delightful Champagne region of France aboard the 12-passenger Panache – pages 66-69 of brochure; and a double-page spread on pages 12-13 highlights the popular Wine and Whisky regions and indicating the barges which cruise there.
“We are confident that the quality of this brochure truly reflects our commitment to providing the very best in luxury hotel barge cruise experiences,” says Derek Banks, European Waterways’ Managing Director. “Through the images and itineraries featured we introduce our passengers to some of Europe’s finest scenery, fascinating history, delicious food and wines and charming local culture – from the picturesque vineyards of Burgundy, to the spectacular Scottish Highlands; and from the sun-drenched waterways of France, to the storybook Alsace region. Creating memories is our business.”
“We also believe it important to give an insight into the unique and intimate qualities of hotel barging, differentiating the concept from larger-vessel river cruising on Europe’s main arteries.”
The 6-night cruises include all gourmet meals, fine wines, an open bar, daily escorted excursions, local transfers and use of all on board facilities such as bicycles and spa pools.
Depending on the vessel chosen, 2017 prices for a 6-night cruise, based on double occupancy, lead in at €3,190 (AU$4,790) per person; or at €19,200 (AU$28,840), for 4 people, for a whole-boat charter.
Accommodating from 6 – 20 passengers, each fully-crewed hotel barge cruise offers discerning travellers the chance to embark on journeys of discovery along some of mainland Europe and the British Isles’ most beautiful inland waterways, while enjoying first-class service and like-minded congenial company.
The hotel barge cruising provides a relaxed, private house party atmosphere; access to waterways not possible for larger vessels; travelling less than 70 miles at a leisurely pace; and unique experiences such as the Arzviller Boat Elevator in Alsace; Eiffel’s aqueduct over the River Loire; and the Malpas Tunnel on the Canal du Midi.
Groups of friends or multi-generational families can also charter any of the hotel barges exclusively for special celebrations. A wide selection of themed charter cruises can be arranged, appealing to special interest groups, whether golf, wine appreciation, walking, or tandem barge cruises for larger groups.
