Carnival Australia president Sture Myrmell has been appointed chairman of CLIA Australasia.
Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA) Australasia has today elected Sture Myrmell as its chairman during its Annual General Meeting in Sydney.
Myrmell brings more than 20 years’ of experience across four Carnival Corporation brands and replaces Steve Odell, who has held the role since 2016 and has completed his term.
“I’m looking forward to working with the association’s executive committee to continue its great work in raising the profile of cruising in the region and ensuring cruising remains the standout success story of the local tourism industry,” Myrmell said.
Odell wished his successor well, adding that “it has been a pleasure and a privilege to serve as the chair of CLIA Australasia during an exciting couple of years for the local cruise industry”.
CLIA Australasia & Asia managing director Joel Katz thanked Odell for his efforts over the past two years.
“Steve has been a great advocate for CLIA and the cruise industry during a time of rapid growth and we thank him for his tireless efforts during his tenure,” Katz said.
