HAPAG Lloyd christened the newest member
of its fleet last week, Columbus 2, at a lavish
ceremony which included a breathtaking
dance and musical performance by the
Phoenix Fire Dancers (pictured below).
Columbus 2 joins Hapag Lloyd from Oceania
Cruises on a two year contract (with option to
extend), and her christening follows a short
conversion period in Barcelona.
The ship features 11 decks and 349 cabins
and can accommodate a maximum of 698
passengers.
“Thanks to a few conversion measures,
including the addition of a Kids and Teens
area, we can now attract families onboard the
Columbus 2,” said Hapag Lloyd’s Managing
Director, Sebastian Ahrens.
“The family-oriented ship will be positioned
in the four-star segment, and will offer a range
of German-language cruises,” he added.
