Celebrity Cruises marks the beginning of its Alaska season, carrying 65% more Australians
The allure of Alaska has well and truly taken hold in Australia, as Celebrity Cruises marks the first departure of its Alaskan cruises for the season, with more Australians onboard than ever before.
Celebrity Cruises has seen Australian bookings for Alaskan sailings increase by 65% year on year, with more than 5500 Australians expected to experience Alaska’s magnificent scenery in 2016 onboard three of Celebrity’s beautifully modern cruise ships.
“It’s natural to see ebbs and flows in cruising trends, and while there has always been a steady flow of Australians making the trip to Vancouver, Seattle or Seward in Alaska to experience this beautiful part of the world by cruise ship, 2016 has seen an unprecedented level of interest for Celebrity Cruises,” said Adam Armstrong, commercial director, Celebrity Cruises Australia.
“It’s no surprise, given Alaska is one of the most spectacular destinations in the world. Exploring it by sea allows you experience incredible sights and wildlife unique to this region, many of which can only be seen from the water”, Armstrong continued.
“What’s more, two of the three ships sailing in Alaska this season are well known and loved down under. Celebrity Solstice – having just departed her Sydney home port for the fourth consecutive summer season – is continually the highest rated cruise ship in the region according to Berlitz, and was recently voted Australia’s favourite cruise ship by the National Travel Industry Awards, while Celebrity Millenium is a regular visitor on her Asia Pacific voyages,” he added.
In addition, Celebrity Infinity will join the Alaska fleet in 2016. Both Celebrity Millennium and Infinity will have undergone extensive USD$8million revitalizations, including the addition of the Solstice-Class favourite, ‘Tuscan Grille’ Italian, as well as the creation of a brand new rooftop terrace where guests can enjoy ‘A Taste of Film’; a meeting of classic films and a carefully curated tasting degustation of food and drink.
All Celebrity Cruises ships are known for their modern spaces, luxurious touches together with the finest in wine and dining. In addition, Celebrity Solstice boasts the Lawn Club; a half acre of real, manicured grass on the top deck.
Celebrity Solstice departs Vancouver today on her first Alaskan sailing for 2016, calling at Ketchikan and Victoria while visiting Tracy Arm Fjord, Skagway and the Alaska Inside Passage over seven nights. However there are still some available cabins for bucket-listers looking to holiday in Alaska this year onboard Celebrity Cruises.
