| CW breaking news – Celebrity to launch sixth Xcel-class ship in 2028

The new ship is currently being promoted as ‘Xcel 2‘.

Celebrity Cruises has announced it will launch a sixth Edge-class ship in 2028, through an agreement signed with shipyard Chantiers de l’Atlantique.

The ship, billed as Xcel 2, will include innovations seen throughout the Edge-class, such as the Magic Carpet, and the Infinite Veranda staterooms.

The new ship will be methanol-capable, Chantiers de l’Atlantique confirmed, and takes the Royal Caribbean Group’s total order book to eight vessels.
