LAST Thursday marked a record for the cruise
industry with five vessels docking in Dubai:
Queen Mary 2, Costa Victoria, Costa Favolosa,
Pacific Princess and Silver Whisper (all pictured
below).
This mass docking also saw the largest
number of cruise guests to ever spill out into
the Emirate in a single day, with an estimated
15,000 passengers and 4,000 crew.
The record is in keeping with the rising
demand for cruises to Dubai, with 71 cruise
ships carrying around 275,000 cruise tourists
expected to dock during the first half (January-
June) of this year alone, and Dubai’s Cruise
Terminal reporting five-fold growth since
launching its new facility in 2010.
