SILVERSEA Cruises has appointed a female
captain for the first time in its 20-year history,
with Margrith Ettlin promoted to the top job
on the line’s Silver Explorer.
Ettlin, who brings extensive experience in
maritime operations in remote regions, took
charge of the vessel on 07 Aug in the Icelandic
capital of Reykjavik, with her inaugural run as
Captain extending into Oct.
“We’re very pleased and proud to extend
this promotion to Captain Ettlin,” Silversea’s
executive vice president of fleet operations
Christian Sauleau said.
