Scenic Tours continues its partnership with Getaway as special host, TV presenter Catriona Rowntree enjoys a luxury France river cruise, sailing the Seine in the country’s north. The Nine Network will be screening three full half hour episodes on Saturday 18 October, 25 October and 1 November.
Join Catriona as she embarks on a walking tour of Paris with a local and visits King Richard the Lionheart’s impressive Château Gaillard on the banks of the Seine. Next she heads to the historic city of Rouen, home to many famous Joan of Arc sites and the French Baking and Patisserie Institute to experience a cooking demonstration and tasting. Then onto the WWI Somme Battlefields including a visit to the Villers-Bretonneux memorial.
The following week Catriona visits the picturesque coastal town of Honfleur and immerses herself in wartime history by exploring Normandy’s D-Day landing beaches.
In the final episode, Catriona visits Monet’s Garden in Giverny which was made famous through his classic 19th century watercolours. She also puts Scenic’s e-bikes to the test cycling through the beautiful French countryside, shops with a chef in the food markets of Paris – a new Scenic FreeChoice activity for 2015, and enjoys an exclusive Scenic Enrich experience at Château-de-Châmplatreux.
