Viking River Cruises now offers an enchanting eight day journey along the Danube River. Uncover Vienna’s imperial architecture, Austria’s riverside towns, and Germany’s cobbled streets on this romantic river cruise.
Embark in Budapest, a fascinating city where the old meets the new. Get lost in the famous three level market built in 1987. Enjoy a tour of the Pest side of Budapest where you will see 19th and 20th century mansions, the National Opera House, Parliament Building and Buda’s Castle District, a UNESCO site.
Day three and four of the cruise will be in Austria. Ride along the Ringstrasse in Vienna to some of the city’s baroque architecture, including the Opera House, Stephan’s Cathedral and Hofburg Palace. On the fourth day sail through the captivating Wachu Valley to the Benedictine abbey at Melk and take one of Viking’s all inclusive tours.
Arrive in Passau on day five where there will be a guided walk through the Old Town along picture book narrow winding streets and finished with a visit to Stephens Cathedral. Here guests will be treated to a special concert played on the 17,000 pipe organ.
On day six visit the scenic town of Regensburg, considered one of Europe’s best-preserved medieval cities. Church spires, bridges, towers and patrician houses fill the streets. Day seven is in Nuremberg, which includes seeing the former Nazi parade grounds, the palace of justice and the venerable vestige of the Nuremberg trials.
The tour comes to a close with a walk from the imperial castle grounds, past the Albrecht Dürer House and on to the main market square with its elaborate Gothic fountain. Free time will also give guests the opportunity to further explore.
The Romantic Danube is priced from $3,395 for a standard state room and includes accommodation, all meals, drinks package, eleven guided tours with audio headset, four UNESCO World Heritage Sites, port charges and internet service.
