One of Royal Caribbean International’s two new cruise ships to be based in Australia for the coming cruise season, Legend of the Seas, has arrived in Sydney for a pre-season sneak peek before her maiden Australian season based in Brisbane.
The 70,000 ton ship is visiting Australia during her repositioning to Asia. She will arrive back to Australia in December, and kicks off her maiden Australian season on 8th December 2015.
Legend of the Seas will be Royal Caribbean International’s first ever Queensland based ship and is expected to inject more than $24 million into the Queensland economy during the season. The pre-season visit is also expected to inject more than $1.5 million with the 14-night cruise departing Sydney and calling at Brisbane, Cairns, Airlie Beach and Darwin in Australia.
Following an extensive $50 million revitalisation in 2013, Legend of the Seas boasts extraordinary facilities that guests will not find onboard any other cruise ship sailing from Brisbane, such as the central Atrium where high flying acrobats put on an incredible aerial show, an outdoor rock climbing wall for active travellers to test their skill, a mini golf course and an indoor swimming pool for more leisurely pursuits, as well as a babies nursery.
Legend of the Seas’ also features an exceptional array of culinary offerings with multiple speciality dining venues, including a Sushi restaurant, steakhouse and a 12-seat private dining room. She also features a stunning two-deck grand dining room, an 800-seat theatre, the Vitality Spa & Fitness centre, a beauty salon and a shopping arcade.
At 70,000 tons and more than 264 metres long, Legend of the Seas is one of the largest superliners able to navigate the Brisbane River and dock at Brisbane Cruise Terminal at Portside Wharf.
During her inaugural five month season from December, Legend of the Seas will embark on 15 itineraries in Australia, New Zealand and the South Pacific ranging from two- to 18-nights before repositioning back to Asia in April 2016.
Bookings for i’ first Queensland season are open now, with fares starting from just $599 per person for a three night sampler cruise departing 8 December 2015. Or choose an eight-night South Pacific cruise from $1,179 for the first person and $589.50 for the second when booked before 30 June 2015, departing 18 February 2016.
