PACIFIC Jewel is returning to Sydney after
searching for a passenger who fell overboard
on Sunday, during day eight of the ship’s Pacific
Island’s Cruise, between Lifou and Noumea.
The elderly female passenger was reported
missing from Jewel by her family on Sunday,
prompting a full search of the ship, to no avail.
Following a review of onboard CCTV footage
which showed that the passenger had gone
overboard from the balcony area, Jewel was
immediately turned around to search through
the night, whilst an air search was launched by
New Caledonian authorities at first light.
As yet the passenger has not been located.
