P&O Cruises World Cruising has changed its
policy on the carriage of mobility scooters,
following what the cruise line is calling an
extensive review of ships’ safety.
The policy, which will apply from the northern
hemisphere summer 2013, requires that all
wheelchairs, scooters and other mobility aids
must be stored inside cabins when not in use.
In addition, the cruise line said that guests
using mobility scooters should select either a
wheelchair accessible cabin, or suite or minisuite,
or alternatively, where suitable,
passengers can bring a collapsible wheelchair
which can be safely stored inside any cabin.
