MSC Cruises’ glamorous new flagship MSC Meraviglia – to be christened by the equally glamorous Sophia Loren in France, on June 3 – is the first ship ever to present shows by world-renowned theatrical maestros Cirque du Soleil.
Taking onboard entertainment to new heights, Cirque du Soleil at Sea features two distinctly different shows, exclusively created for MSC Meraviglia. Sonor (a thrilling adventure into the world of sound) and Viaggio (a vibrant extravaganza filled with light and colour) will each be performed six nights a week, so every guest has the chance to see both shows.
Yasmine Khalil, President of 45 DEGREES, Cirque du Soleil’s Events and Special Projects Company, said: “After years of hard work, our team is very excited to unveil the first productions of our partnership with MSC; two concepts very different from one another, both showcasing Cirque du Soleil’s ‘savoir-faire’. MSC Meraviglia’s guests are definitely in for a treat!”
The Carousel Lounge onboard MSC Meraviglia has been designed specifically to showcase Cirque du Soleil at Sea. Equipped with the ultimate in cutting-edge technology and special rigging, the Carousel Lounge hosts a maximum of 413 guests, making the interaction between spectactors and performers even more special.
Guests can choose between a show and cocktail experience and a three-course gourmet dinner and show experience, which can be booked onboard or online pre-cruise. Tickets are just €15 or €35 euros, compared with hundreds of dollars to see Cirque du Soleil at home.
The 4,488-guest MSC Meraviglia (which means ‘a wonder’ in Italian and is pronounced ‘Merr-a-vee-lia) is the 13th ship in the fleet and the 5th to offer the exclusive “ship within a ship” facilities of the MSC Yacht Club.
