| MSC names Seascape

MSC Cruises has named its second Seaside EVO class ship MSC Seascape at the ship’s coin ceremony (pictured)at Fincantieri’s shipyard in Monfalcone.

Seascape is named to pay homage to the views to be enjoyed from the ship thanks to her innovative design, MSC revealed on the day of the keel-laying.

Like her sister ship MSC Seashore, Seascape is a further evolution of the Seaside class, with the EVO ships coming with enhanced features, spaces and experiences for guests.

Seascape is designed to connect cruisers with the sea through her innovative design, including 13,000m2 of outdoor space.

Scheduled to enter service in Nov 2022, Seascape will be able to accommodate 5,877 guests.

MSC Category Manager Retail Monica Somma and Fincantieri Production Supervisor Jolette Vincenzi, long-standing employees for their respective companies, performed the traditional maritime ritual as godmothers, when they placed two coins within the ship’s keel as a historical sign of blessing and good fortune for the construction of the ship and her future at sea.

“The coins we lay today to mark a key construction milestone of one of our ships are an important symbol of our confidence in the cruise industry and the future of travel and tourism,” said MSC Cruises Executive Chairman Pierfrancesco Vago.

“When she joins our fleet, MSC Seascape will generate meaningful economic impact not only for the shipbuilding industry and its entire supply chain but for all the ports and destinations that she reaches”.
