THE Northern Territory Government has
appointed SeaLink Travel Group as the new
provider of the Mandorah ferry service, taking
over from Fast Ferries from 01 Sep.
The Mandorah ferry operates the journey
between Cullen Bay (near Darwin Airport) and
Mandorah up to 14 times per day, with a travel
time of approx 15 minutes each way.
SeaLink NT will form part of the SeaLink
Travel Group which currently operates ferry
services in Queensland, NSW and SA.
“We are committed to providing a high level
of service and to developing tourism as part
of our operations,” STG managing director Jeff
Ellison said.
The service will initially be operated by a
22.5m three-level ship, however SeaLink plans
to relocate a more modern air-conditioned
110-seat Incat Crowther catamaran from
Melbourne to perform the route by mid-Sep.
MEANWHILE, SeaLink Travel Group has named
former Sydney Lord Mayor Lucy Turnbull AO to
the company’s Board of Directors.
