Following the recent opening of its inaugural Australasia office in Sydney, Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings (NCLH) has appointed Steve Odell, previously NCLH Senior Vice President and Managing Director Australia & New Zealand, as Senior Vice President and Managing Director Asia Pacific – responsible for overseeing Australia, New Zealand, South Pacific and, Asia including Japan, India, South Korea, Hong Kong and Taiwan.
Operating from NCLH’s new regional headquarters in Sydney, Mr Odell’s position will be focused on the continued growth of the company’s presence in the Asia Pacific region and differentiating each of NCLH’s three cruise brands – Norwegian Cruise Line, Oceania Cruises and Regent Seven Seas Cruises – unique offerings.
Odell brings over thirty years of pioneering cruise industry experience to this position, playing a key role in the establishment of the luxury cruise segment in Australasia since 2000, previously serving as Silverseas’ President EMEA & Asia Pacific. He also served as Chairman ICCA (now CLIA Australasia) from 2005 to 2007, and was a founding Board member of the Asia Cruise Association (now CLIA Asia).
“Demand for quality cruise products is growing exponentially across the Asia Pacific region as more holiday-makers discover and embrace the wealth of experiences cruising can offer. With three market-leading cruise brands, including Norwegian Cruise Line – a leader in freestyle cruising, Oceania Cruises – a leader in the upper-premium cruise segment, and Regent Seven Seas Cruises – a leader in luxury cruising, NCLH is well positioned to respond to this demand and grow its presence in the region,” said Mr Odell.
Odell’s appointment accords with NCLH’s expansion of its international leadership team, including the appointment of cruise industry veterans Frank Medina as Vice President and Managing Director Latin America and David Herrera as Senior Vice President and Managing Director China.
“We are thrilled to further enhance our strong international leadership team with the strong experience, strategic planning and industry knowledge that Steve Odell, David Herrera and Frank Medina bring to Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings,” said Harry Sommer, Executive Vice President, International Business Development.
