Scenic and Godmother, US cruise consultant Angela Turen christened the third next-generation Scenic Space-Ship Scenic Amber at a special ceremony for media and travel industry leaders from Australia, New Zealand, UK and North America in the Austrian town of Passau on ANZAC Day – Monday 25 April.
The fifteenth of the renowned Scenic fleet and the newest to be sailing the waterways of Europe, the 85-cabin Scenic Amber is the sister ship to Scenic Jasper and Opal which were both launched last year, and were the first in the fleet to feature a heated vitality pool plus the largest suites on the rivers – the 44m2 Royal Panorama Suites and the opulent Royal Suite which boasts 33m2 of space.
Scenic Founder and Chairman Glen Moroney, as well as representatives from the specialist river cruise shipyard Den Breejen and Austrian dignitaries and tourism officials all attended the event. Angela christened Scenic Amber with the customary breaking of a Champagne bottle over the bow as she officially named the ship.
Glen Moroney commented: “We are proud to launch our third next-generation Scenic Space-Ship on Europe’s waterways. The ship’s exceptional design and luxurious large suites were positively received by our guests last year who just loved the heightened sense of luxury we were able to bring with these enhancements.”
Scenic Amber brings the European fleet total to 14 – including boutique small ship, Scenic Tsar, which exclusively sails in Russia. Scenic has the newest fleet of ships to sail the European rivers, and this year began sailing in South East Asia with Scenic Spirit debuting on the Mekong in January, followed by Scenic Aura which will begin sailing Myanmar’s Irrawaddy in September.
