Scenic has launched its 2016 Europe River Cruise program which includes the launch of a new river cruising destination – Portugal’s Douro Valley, two further next-generation Scenic Space-Ships and a number of new Enrich events and Freechoice activities.
Scenic Azure has been purpose built to offer an intimate cruising experience for only 96 guests. With no overnight sailing the 11 day round trip, from World Heritage-listed Porto down to Vega de Terron over the Spanish border, meanders along the sun-drenched waterways of the Douro River taking in the vineyards, historic towns and villages and the rich culture this region has to offer. This newest Europe river cruise – 11 Day Unforgettable Douro – also combines with Bordeaux and Seine river cruises plus extensions in Lisbon and a land tour from Porto to Madrid.
Scenic Azure, and Scenic Amber – sailing the Main, Rhine, Danube – join the fleet in 2016, bringing the total to 16 throughout Europe, Russia and South East Asia. Both 5-star ships boast the same all-inclusive luxury experience synonymous with all Scenic Space-Ships and offer the largest suites on the rivers they sail. From vitality spas on the Sun Deck, butler service and unlimited complimentary beverages to full size private balcony suites with exclusive Scenic Sun Lounges and a choice of dining options include dégustation at Table La Rive, fine dining at Portobellos and more casual fare at River Cafe. As with all Scenic river cruises, guests will also enjoy included tips and gratuities, expert local guides, all Scenic Freechoice activities and Scenic Enrich special events. Scenic’s new laundry concierge service entitles all river cruise guests in Europe and France to 1kg of laundry free on each cruise.
Aleisha Fittler, GM Product Development, commented: “Our pre-release figures have shown that our guests are excited to experience new river cruising regions, with sales for the Douro far surpassing our expectations. Demand for our popular Amsterdam to Budapest route continues to rise and our sales for France are double what they were last year. With four ships sailing in 2016 we have more choice than ever of itineraries in France across Bordeaux, Seine and Rhone rivers and many guests are choosing to combine these waterways on a combination tour.”
Scenic has also launched 8 Day Iconic Danube, a river cruise from Passau to Budapest plus new land itineraries and city extensions which include 9 Day Bel Viaggio from Nice to Rome; 11 Day Alpine Escapade from Munich to Zurich; and a three night stay in cosmopolitan Copenhagen.
New Scenic Enrich experiences include ‘Tastes of ‘Oktoberfest’ in Freudenberg, Germany; the ‘Best of Sound of Music and Salzburg Show’ – an exclusive production of the timeless film of the same name performed in the rolling hills of Salzburg; and a private dinner and concert in Abbots Hall at the extravagant Benedictine Palace in Fecamp, Northern France. Plus new Scenic Freechoice activities include the option to discover the mystical Black Forest during a hike and cable car ride and a guided cycle from Cadillac through the Sauternes wine region including wine tasting at Chateau Murat.
Scenic has a number of Earlybird offers including fly free to Europe or fly for $995 per person, plus no single supplement for the solo traveller and fly business class to Europe from $2,995 per person.
