Look out Australia, in just six months time, Royal Caribbean’s all new Ovation of the Seas arrives in her new Sydney home for her maiden Australian season.
With a reputation for reinventing cruising, Australia’s newest, biggest and most technologically advanced cruise ship will make history when she arrives in Sydney on 15 December 2016, after calling to Fremantle, Adelaide and Hobart, delivering not only a cruise like no other, but a style of holiday Australians have never seen before.
“Ovation of the Seas is more than a state-of-the-art cruise experience – this is a whole new way to holiday. There is no other destination in the country that delivers so much, all in one place,” said Adam Armstrong, managing director, Royal Caribbean Australia and New Zealand.
“With the arrival of Ovation of the Seas, we usher in a revolutionary new era of travel. She is beyond anything ever imagined in our region before. She is in her own category – she is supercruising,” he continued.
On Ovation of the Seas, guests will be able to feel the wind beneath their wings on the iFly skydiving experience, rock climb and surf the perfect break on the FlowRider surf machine, drive on the wrong side of the road in the bumper cars at SeaPlex, go to circus school to master the trapeze, or slow down, take a deep breath, and experience the very best views at sea from the North Star glass viewing pod, 90 metres above the ocean.
“Ovation of the Seas will be the biggest cruise ship ever to call Australia home, and that means more experiences and more space for travellers. With 6,400 guests and crew on board – more than the population of a small town – she feels modern and spacious”, Armstrong added.
“We’ve created incredible entertainment spaces onboard that change from day to night, including SeaPlex, the largest indoor sports and entertainment complex at sea with bumper cars, a circus school and more; Two70, an immersive, multimedia entertainment venue with dancing Roboscreens; and the fun Bionic Bar, where robots stir and shake your drinks.”
“There are 18 dining venues onboard including Jamie’s Italian, Michael’s Genuine Pub, the enchanting Wonderland and Royal Caribbean favourites like Chops Grille steakhouse and Izumi Japanese,” he added.
As the first ever newbuild to be based in Australia, she is the most modern ship sailing in the region. Technology plays a big part in the differences guests will find on Ovation of the Seas with VOOM high speed internet offering the fastest bandwidth at sea so guests can connect and stream as quickly as they would onshore, while the Royal iQ app makes keeping track of your onboard schedule simple with all bookings and cruise details stored and updated automatically on your smartphone.
“We have been absolutely blown away by the response from the Australian public. In the past six weeks, we’ve announced the extension of Ovation of the Seas’ maiden season, confirmed she will return for a second season in 2017/18, and most recently, also announced the extension of her second season by over a month,” Armstrong said.
“And we know Australians will be blown away by this US$1 billion marvel – we’re expecting people to travel from near and far to get a glimpse of Ovation of the Seas when she pulls into Sydney on 15 December 2016,” Armstrong concluded.
The US$1 billion dollar cruise ship is expected to inject almost $30 million into the Australian economy, representing the single biggest investment in the local cruising market that any line has ever made.
Ovation of the Seas arrives in Sydney on December 15, concluding her 14-night repositioning cruise from Singapore via Fremantle, Adelaide and Hobart. She will spend December 15 docked in beautiful Sydney Harbour before departing at 4pm on 16 December on her first local cruise, a 15-night New Zealand voyage.
Ovation of the Seas joins Explorer of the Seas, Voyager of the Seas and Radiance of the Seas sailing from Sydney, cementing Royal Caribbean’s title as the nation’s most innovative cruise brand with the newest, biggest and most feature-packed fleet.
