AS Queen Mary 2 moves towards the ripe old
age of eight, Cunard has announced plans to
place her under the knife for a major makeover
in the lead-up to her birthday celebrations in
January next year.
The whole body makeover is enough to make
Hollywood stars froth at the mouth with
jealousy, and will take place over 14 days
between 24 November and 07 December.
The makeover will include new carpets, curtains,
bedcovers and linens in her staterooms, as well
as a refurbishment and redesign of her Golden
Lion Pub, which whilst retaining the British pub
atmosphere will also evoke an American country
club feel- similar to the warm colours in the
same venue aboard QV and QE.
Upgraded televisions will also be installed in
the Golden Lion Pub, whilst the Canyon Ranch
SpaClub will undergo extensive work to its teak
decking, as well as a general upgrade to all its
facilities and the installation of new exercise
and beauty therapy equipment.
The Queens Grill and Princess Grill
Restaurants will also be enhanced with new
lighter carpet, whilst the Commodore Club and
Veuve Clicquot Champagne Bar will both be
refreshed with new carpet and furnishings.
Meanwhile the specialty coffee venue, Sir
Samuel’s, will enjoy new carpets and furniture
coverings, whilst the Play Zone/Kids’ Zone will
be upgraded with new soft play areas and new
electronic gaming technology and
entertainment.
