Sydney’s National Maritime Museum has
partnered with Viking River Cruises to jointly
promote and support the upcoming “Vikings –
Beyond the Legend” exhibition, which is due to
open at the museum from 19 Sep.
The exhibition will showcase hundreds of
artefacts from the Viking era, including swords
dating back to between 700-1100AD, gold and
silver pendants, jewellery, arts, metal work,
statuettes and much more.
Viking River Cruises Australia managing
director Teresia Fors said the company was
proud to work with the museum on this exhibit.
“It is a rare opportunity to find something so
intimately connected to our history and where
there is such an obvious connection to our
brand,” Fors said.
“Vikings have come to symbolise the terror
of the so-called Dark Ages in Europe. They
are a persistent presence in popular culture
and hold a fascination for people even here in
Australia,” National Maritime Museum curator
Dr Stephen Gapps added.
