Awards highlight cruise line support of the travel industry.
The extraordinary efforts of the Australasian cruise sector to support one another through the COVID-19 pandemic were recognised today as the winners of the 2020 Travel Daily Awards were announced.
Based on thousands of votes by travel consultants from across the industry, the most supportive Ocean Cruise Line category was taken out by Princess Cruises, while Scenic Luxury Cruises and Tours won the most supportive Expedition Cruise Line category.
APT Travel Group was named the most supportive River Cruise Line, with GM Sales Scott Ellis saying “we are just so thrilled to have been recognised…this is such a significant award and will boost the morale and spirits of all at ATG”.
“I actually feel an award like this in today’s climate is more significant than when it’s smooth sailing,” Ellis added.
Princess Cruises’ Nick Ferguson said he was honoured to accept the award. “It’s been a challenging year as we know for everyone and I know the whole team at Princess has continued to try and improve the way we service the trade”.
“We’ve ramped up our communications and introduced a number of new tools to help the trade navigate through this difficult period,” Ferguson added, thanking his team and the wider industry for their hard work.
The Expedition Cruise Line award was accepted by Emma Davie, who congratulated all of the other finalists as well. “These awards have put Scenic in very great company during such trying times with COVID, we’re all winners just for surviving through the last six months and I know the support that everyone has given to our travel agent partners,” she said.
